Don’t go near the waterocean-trash-jj-001
Don’t you think it’s sad
What’s happened to the water
Our water’s going bad

Oceans, rivers, lakes and streams
Have all been touched by man
The poison floating out to sea
Now threatens life on land

Don’t go near the water
Ain’t it sad
What’s happened to the water

It’s going bad

“Don’t Go Near the Water” – The Beach Boys

When I walk along the beach, I will find a plastic bottle or bag  floating to shore. I think to myself ,” What amazing fleshbag dumped this into water?”. It never occurred to me that certain ocean currents have all this plastic trash gathering in areas of the Pacific Ocean twice the size of Texas. I will be at my Tempe office May 7th -May 12th.Should be a great trip! During my “downtime” I’ll be checking out The Art Walk in Chandler. Looks like it’ll be great fun! Take a look…

This month’s featured artist has made it way cool to be environmentally conscious! Join us during this coming 1st Wednesday Art Walk in Downtown Chandler to experience unique “upcycled” (*see below) artwork by local artist, Sandy Schimmel-Gold. Sandy creates an under-painting, and then carefully places a mosaic of junk-mail and greeting cards she has received over the years—so environmentally conscious!

Also, we will be hosting a wine tasting of some of our boutique wines selected by our fabulous in-house wine expert, Tonya. Ask Tonya to help you select the perfect wine for your Mother’s Day dinner….OR pair your wine with some amazing Vosges chocolate, available at Inspirador. A selection of Vosges Chocolates and gifts are 40% off during the show and an incredible gift to give…don’t miss out!

What: Art, Wine & Chocolate

Where: TRYST Art Gallery @ Inspirador

When: Wednesday, May 7th 2008 5-9pm

Contact: Amy Marvin, Creative Director 888-638-2671

“Upcycling”

The term Upcycling was coined by William McDonaugh and Michael Braugart in their book on ecologically intelligent design, Cradle to Cradle.
