I will be working out of my Arizona office for a few days. I didn’t go during July and August…too damn hot ( I know it’s a dry heat but the surface of the sun is dry too).

September 10th -14th (short visit this time) I’ll be offering sessions to my Phoenix clients from 9:00 am to 5:30 pm at the Hayden Ferry office. I will also be doing a private event in Cave Creek on Saturday (thanks Nick and Lori!).

During this time I will be visiting my sweet nieces Cheyenne and Madison (these two could make projectile vomiting cute ). Mimi’s Restaurant in Chandler I’m sure is awaiting my presence (hint, hint Jared and Leslie) . If I’m lucky my brother in law will take me to Teakwoods. Teakwoods is a spiritual watering hole near Gilbert …I say “spiritual” because any place with peanuts on the floorhas to be spiritual!  Gotta go visit Deenie,Amy Indra and Ms.Tonya at Inspirador …Downtown Chandler is looking good! AM I GONNA BE ABLE TO FIT ALL THIS FUN STUFF IN? Damn I’m gonna try real hard. Maybe the best thing would be just to watch bad reality TV with Sarenna and the dogs (I should make those dogs watch Cesar on “The Dog Whisperer” …little canines on crack).

I told Amy and Cassandra that I wouldn’t go into  Jack in the Box.

That doesn’t mean I can’t use the drive-thru.

A choke of grief heart hardened I
Beyond belief a broken man too tough to cry

Surf’s Up
Aboard a tidal wave
Come about hard and join
The young and often spring you gave
I heard the word
Wonderful thing
A children’s song

” Surf’s Up” – The Beach Boys

When I’m working, there are some days that the only “sunlight” I really get is from the music that I play in my office. Music can sometimes be my closest “connection” to God. Sometimes a paticular song can be God’s closest connection to me. Spirit has such a way of communicating through music. Try it sometime. When you hop into the car, ask God to play a song just for you . Chances are you’ll be moved to tears or truly inspired.  I’ve found that what’s spiritual for me may not be spiritual for you. I still wanted to make a short list of the tunes that are really making my heart sing for the week. I hope some of you will comment on your favorites! It’ll give me new songs to download! Think of what makes your “heart” sing! Well here’s my short list,

“Surf’s Up”The Beach Boys (the last minute and half of this song is “Spiritual” beyond measure.)

“Vida La Vida”Coldplay  (a coming of age song for me. Very cool.)

” Love and Mercy” – Brian Wilson  ( The title reminds me of tolerance everytime)

“Warwick Ave” –  Duffy  ( when this gal sings…I feel it!)

” Blue” – Lucinda Williams  ( this tune reminds me of the two most important girls in my life)

there are so many more….but I hope this inspired people to use music this week and every week. Can’t wait to hear your favorites at work!

This past weekend I was blessed to see family and friends I haven’t seen in ages. The Phoenix based part of the Wood Clan flew into Washington D.C. to visit the matriarch of the family…my sister Sonia. I don’t know about you but when family arrives at my sister’s home there is only one thing , two things to do. First, visit “Ledo’s” pizza in Adelphi, Md (if you haven’t tried this pizza GO NOW! http://www.ledopizza.com) . Second, have a cookout ….Translation: cook meat. A lot of meat. Every kind of meat. Hamburgers, hot dogs, chicken, pork chops, beef ribs, and keilbasa. I think there was a fruit salad around to keep everyone’s colon from going into spasms! Dessert was Amy’s incredible cheesecake…a decades old recipe handed down from her Nana and a closely guarded secret.

The combination of good food, family, and drink created a warm, loving atmosphere of old stories and bladder-bulging laughter… ( evidently there are photos of our family friend Tony being hogtied by the girls when he was very young and forced to put on dresses and make-up for my sister’s sick enjoyment.) 90 degree weather, cheesecake, and Corona is like truth serum for my sisters. No amount of passing time could take away Deenie’s memory of having to drink pickle juice everyday after school, because Sonia told her younger sister “it was the only way to learn how to whistle.”

Can you feel the love? I sure did. For eight hours I didn’t worry about sessions, bills, or anything that required my brain engaging the “future”. Next weekend is another visit to the D.C. suburbs. Crab feast at cousin Cheryl’s…now that will something to blog about!
