Listen to the voices loud and clear
Come on folks, withstand your fear
Celebrate the joys, it’s yours to choose
Celebrate the news
There ain’t no blues

When Melissa Finocchiaro decided to join the Wood Massott Center I asked her why she wanted to heal. What motivated her? Why do this? The answer was moving and heartwarming. Geri and myself are happy to have her aboard. But allow me to have Melissa talk about her journey and her Thai Yoga practice…
I’ ve always knew I wanted to be a healer from the time I was a little girl
whether I was helping injured birds, or offering a kind word to someone in distress—I knew that I wanted to help, to heal, and to nurture.
In college I bounced around with my major, starting with psychology, contemplating english, and then finally settling into art therapy.
I recall doing an internship that involved painting a large scale wall mural with mentally ill patients. This was a humorous, challenging, and at times eye opening experience. I witnessed a man who could barely speak, paralyzed from the waist down, and with limited mobility in his arms, paint an amazing landscape of a holy city ( Jerusalem perhaps) complete with a brilliant sunset, set against, mountains with crosses set on top of them. I was so taken aback, that this man who honestly I thought, I was going to have to hold his hand through the whole project, teaching me the meaning of not judging a book by its cover. This project was so therapeutic for him, allowing him to release all that vitality and pent up creativity.
Melissa has been doing massage and reiki for over 5 years, and has developed a massage style which incorporates the deep stretches and compressions of a thai yoga massage, with reiki healing, and a classic swedish massage. This massage may sound adventurous but its actually very relaxing and therapeutic. Combining all three really takes the healing to a deeper level. So you have your classic long swedish strokes, combined with gentle yet profound stretches ( always going with the clients breath), and she throws a bit of reiki in there, intuitively working on whichever chakra is calling me. All in all, this creates a true mind, body, and soul, blissfull experience.
This therapy can be done in either 60 or 90 minute intervals. Call 302-373-7720 to set up an appointment at The Wood Massott Holistic Center in Berwyn, PA.
