From http://www.boston.com/news/politics/politicalintelligence/2008/11/obama_extends_n.html

The CNN/Opinion Research Corp. survey of likely voters, Democrat Obama is ahead 53 percent to 46 percent. Among registered voters, Obama’s lead is even larger — 55 percent to 42 percent over Republican John McCain.

That lead is up 2 percentage points among likely voters and 3 among registered voters from two weeks ago.

The poll was conducted Thursday through Sunday and has a margin of error of plus or minus 3.5 percentage points among likely voters and 3 points among registered voters.

The daily Diageo-Hotline tracking poll has Obama up 50 percent to 45 percent among likely voters. That poll was conducted over the same three days and has a margin of error of plus or minus 3.3 percentage points.

Southern Poverty Law Center is an amazing organization that once again is in the headlines for unfortunate reasons.
Their web site is extremely informative and certainly worth looking at even if you are not interested in donating to them.
They fight against all forms of prejudice and fight for the rights of everyone, especially the most vulnerable.
Truly worth checking out if you have never heard of them.

Oct. 29, 2008

Dear Friend,

Over the last few days, we’ve been swamped with requests for information about the two neo-Nazi skinheads who planned a murderous rampage ending with the assassination of Barack Obama. We’ve been consulted by law enforcement because of our expertise.

We reported on our website that one of the skinheads involved was affiliated with a newly formed organization called the Supreme White Alliance (SWA).

The SWA is headed by a man named Steven Edwards, who is steeped in a violent culture of racial extremism. We’ve been following his activities for some time. You can find out more about Edwards in a report by ABC’s Nightline that aired last night.

The skinheads’ plot to kill Obama and murder other African Americans is a chilling reminder of the threat posed by these domestic terrorists.

Unfortunately, I fear we’re entering a dangerous period. Obama’s candidacy has aroused fierce passions among white supremacists. And during times of economic hardship, minorities are often targeted as scapegoats for our country’s problems.

We cannot afford to take threats like this lightly. With your help, we’re doing everything we can to track and expose violent racists — and we’ll continue providing the best intelligence available to law enforcement.

Thanks for being on our team. With your moral and financial support, we’ll continue this important fight against the forces of hate and intolerance.

Morris Dees photo Sincerely,
Morris Dees

Just got this email. Very entertaining and well done. You can also customize it so your friends can see their names embedded in the video! It’s from a Pro-Obama site (I haven’t seen anything like this for McCain), and it’s very easy to use. This is what your outgoing email will say...

Your friend [Your Name] sent you the following video from CNNBC: “Obama’s Loss Traced To [Their Name]”

Watch it here:

– [Your Name]

And don’t worry—after they send out the link to the video, they won’t email your friends again. And never sell or distribute your email address or your friends’ email addresses.

Well folks the last debate is upon us. Will it make a difference in the way you’ll vote? Will you pull an Elvis and shoot your TV? Will you flip over to “Monsterquest” on the History Channel? Will you get drunk on rail vodka at the local strip club? DOES ANY OF THIS MATTER?

Let me know won’t you? Here’s a poll on the subject!

Senator McCain if anything, is not a quitter. He may be down in the polls, but he’s not out. He has embraced his underdog image and now is trying to get the average joe out there to empathize with his cause. (Sorry Sarah Palin but “Joe Sixpack” is a little demeaning to me). Of course there is a poll discussing the “underdog” issue.

What say you? C’mon take the Poll….here is the link-

The second debate is over. Obama still has a lead. Some swing states are up for grabs. The economy has become the number one issue in this country. Followed by healthcare. The only way to steer people away from those topics is to serve some good ol’ fashioned fear.

I guess all the stops are coming out. The flood of political “hearsay” will be deep. There was a time when I had admiration for Senator McCain, most of it before this election. I’ve seen you reach across the partisan  aisle and try to involve both sides. You were good at that.

Then you chose Sarah Palin to be your running mate. I think you didn’t really want her, but you thought she would be the right choice for votes. That choice is coming to haunt you. I believe that’s when you switched your tactics to fear.

Fear, I believe is lack of focus. It is a distraction. When Obama’s staff started to focus on words like “hope” and “change” there was a new energy injected into the 2008 election. A positive energy and something to emulate.

Using Obama’s middle name “Hussein” doesn’t frighten me. The fact that he’s multi-racial doesn’t bother me. I’m not looking to be frightened . I am looking to be convinced. Senator McCain if you have healthcare reform that will allow a diabetic or someone with a prexisting condition to get affordable healthcare, I’m all ears. When your focus is on alternative fuel solutions and walking away from Mideast Oil. Please tell me.

But when the going gets tough and all I hear from your camp is that somehow  Ayers was in cahoots with Obama doing god knows what , it sounds negative and desperate.

Stop telling me what Obama can’t do. Tell me what you’re going to do. Show me how deregulation is going to help the economy…most of us think that’s how we got in this mess to begin with. Obama’s message that we should be examples of promoting change is a good one. That message is a positive one. I’m a moderate that wants to see what’s right with our country. Our people. It’s the reason I no longer watch FOX NEWS. I will be watching next week… convince me.
